State
.
OVERVIEW: Scouts will bear down specifically on three Lions players—junior RHP Brad Meyers (8-4, 3.23), junior 2B Eric Farris (.332-1-38) and junior C Sean Dovel (.311-2-26). Sophomore OF Brian Wilson (.315-1-22), the team’s best prospect for the 2008 draft, will also generate special attention as he will double his workload, also taking a turn in the rotation (2-0, 5.44). Senior LHP Daniel Macias (5-8, 4.35) will hold down the third spot in the rotation, while junior RHP Andy Beal (5-8, 5.58), a starter a year ago, becomes the closer.
TOP PROSPECT/JUNIOR: Brad Meyers, rhp. The 6-foot-5, 190-pound Meyers has shown only flashes of his first-round potential in two years at Loyola Marymount. He has an effective slider and changeup, but he likely won’t be drafted in the first round in June unless the velocity returns consistently to his 92 mph fastball.
TOP FRESHMAN: Angelo Songio, of. TOP SOPHOMORE: Brian Wilson, of-rhp. TOP SENIOR: Daniel Macias, lhp.
