OVERVIEW: The Dolphins ran away with the Atlantic Sun Conference regular season crown in 2006, but couldn’t sustain their success in post-season play. Junior RHP Matt Dobbins (12-2, 3.45), who led the conference in wins, returns as the ace of a deep pitching staff, while senior OFs Pete Clifford (.317-5-38) and Mike McCallister (.333-10-54) will help to overcome the loss of the team’s top two hitters. Clifford will look to build off a strong summer, when he led the
Santa Barbara
(Calif.
) Foresters to the National Baseball Congress World Series title, leading the team in homers and RBIs.
TOP PROSPECT/SENIOR: Mike McCallister, of. A big, physical specimen at 6-foot-3 and 220 pounds, McAllister finally appeared to get his college career untracked last year after disappointing performances in previous stints at
Alabama
and
Florida
. He can drive the ball to all fields and has an above-average right-field arm, though he remains prone to striking out.
