OVERVIEW: New Eagles coach Mike Aoki inherits a starting staff of junior RHP Terry Doyle (5-5, 3.44), who excelled in the Cape Cod League last summer for league champion Yarmouth-Dennis; senior RHP Kevin Boggan (4-2, 4.47), a 46th-round pick of the Giants in last year’s draft; and sophomore RHP Adam Crabtree, a 15th-round pick of the Angels in the 2004 draft who has not pitched in two years because of an assortment of injuries. Six regulars also return, led by junior OF Johnny Ayers (.340-0-20), senior OF Jared McGuire (.264-3-37) and junior C Jett Ruiz (.321-0-18).
TOP PROSPECT/JUNIOR: Terry Doyle, rhp. Doyle earned all-star honors in the Cape Cod League last summer by throwing a no-hitter, finishing second in the league in wins (5) and strikeouts (52), and winning the deciding game of the league championship series. He dominated hitters with outstanding command of all of his pitches, especially his changeup. His fastball sits in the high 80s.
