MARIETTA, Ga. -- More than 220 players from 18 states, Puerto Rico and Canada will descend on Marietta, Ga. this weekend (Sept. 12-13) for the Perfect Game USA Southeast Top Prospect Showcase and Southeast Underclass Showcase at the East Cobb Complex.

The seventh annual Southeast Top Showcase will feature 97 players, including 11 who are ranked in the top-500 by Perfect Game USA. The sixth annual Southeast Underclass Showcase has 126 players in the event this year.

The players are coming from Georgia, Tennessee, Kentucky, Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, South Carolina, Arkansas, North Carolina, Louisiana, New York, New Jersey, Illinois, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Maine and Massachusetts. The Top Prospect Showcase and Underclass Showcase will be held simultaneously at the East Cobb Complex, with a wide collection of college and pro scouts expected to attend the action.

Last year, the Southeast Top Prospect Showcase featured three players who went on to become 2009 Aflac All-Americans in Trey Griffin, Chavez Clarke and Zach Alvord. The Showcase also has featured three first-round draft picks in recent years with Josh Smoker (2005), Jason Heyward (2006) and Ethan Martin (2007).

The Top Prospect Showcase is primarily for 2010 high school graduates, with a few 2011 grads sprinkled in. The Underclass Showcase features 2011 and 2012 graduates.

Jason Aylesworth of Georgia holds the record in the 60-yard dash at the Top Showcase with a 6.53 clocking in 2006. Ryan Wood of Virginia has thrown the best fastball in the Top Showcase at 92 mph in 2004. The corresponding records at the Underclass Showcase are a 6.61 clocking in the 60-yard dash by Zachary Gawrych of Georgia in 2008 and a 91 mph fastball by Jeremy Jeffress in 2004.

The 97 players in the Southeast Top Showcase have been assigned to six teams, while the 126 players in the Underclass Showcase have been assigned to eight teams. Registration begins at 8 a.m. on Saturday, with drills starting at 9 a.m. and games beginning at 10:30 a.m.

The two showcases will be held on four fields at the East Cobb Complex, which hosts five of Perfect Game's WWBA national tournaments each summer. All of the action at both showcases will be filmed by BaseballWebTV.

The conditions on Sunday were still wet, soft and slow. Will this be indicated in the profiles when the times are posted and shown as a slow track conditions?
